What I brought #1

This month I am trying so hard to be good with money as on the 16th I'm going on holiday!! On payday I went to town with my friend Jodie and we had a very long but successful trip.

Firstly I went to The Body Shop now this is where I have to really be sensible and just purchase things I need...which is so hard as it is my favourite shop. Firstly I picked up two body butters for £16 I chose the Honeymania and Moringa butters. Both are my absolute favourite!

When I was at the counter the sales assistant asked me if I wanted to try the new Vitamin E sorbet ( they must of seen me coming ) I sampled some on my hand and I loved the consistency and thought it would be like heaven on my face during the hot summer.

Next I was in some desperate need of shampoo and conditioner (£4.99 each) lately I have been loving the Ogx brand I firstly saw this over on Corrie's blog. I really like the way that the shampoo/conditioner actually makes my hair feel clean and not "heavy" and full of product. (of course I also fell for the hot pink packaging!)

For a long time now I have lusted over the Urban Decay Naked Palettes but I just cant justify spending that much on eye shadow. So when I walked past the Barry M stand in Boots I saw their own take on the naked palettes. I quickly swatched the colours and loved them. I then saw that there was an offer 2 for £10 so I picked up the Brow Kit.

Next up I needed to repurchase my favourite tan of all tan which is the Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan (£6.99) . I have mentioned this before in a prvious favourities.
I really wanted some bright and relatively cheap sandals for holiday. I looked everywhere and eventually found these in the 915 section in New Look for £9.99. I love the bright jewels on these and really think they will be a statement on my holiday.

I love this time of year as it's when the stationary comes out ready to go to college or uni, I was very good when I went into WHSmith's and only picked up one stationary item which was this diary. I also picked up another Dan Brown novel as I am addicted and think these are great summer reads.

What have you been buying lately?

Thank you for reading

Top 5 Summer Lipsticks

I love a bold lip all year round but as we slowly venture out of winter I put away the dark reds and purples and whack out the bright pinks, nudes and orange lipstick. During the summer I tend to wear less eye make - up as it just melts off my face...literally....I never knew eyelids could sweat. So I find that the summer is a great time to carry off a bold lip.

#1 Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in the shade 06 Pink Pong
This shade isn't new in the blogging community but when I heard everyone rave about them I had to take advantage of my Boots points and pick up a few shades. Firstly I was drawn to the colour (I probably have many lipsticks in this shade) but I feel that this screams SUMMER! The application of this is smooth and easy and the staying power is brilliant. when removing this lipstick I would recommend using an oil based cleanser. With this shade I can really take my look from day to night.

#2 The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in the shade 201 Red Hot Raspberry
I have a huge obsession with The Body Shop skincare but never really took much notice of their make up range but I am glad I finally did. This shade is from their colour crush range and the shades range from dusty nudes to bright orange. I decided to opt for something in the middle and chose this shade. The application is easy but I do find this lipstick smudges so best to be used with a lip liner. I love the smell of this lipstick and always get compliments when I wear it. The staying power is not as good as the Bourjois lipsticks so I do find I have to apply this frequently throughout the day. Saying that this has been my go to lipstick for work as its fairly subtle and easy to wear.

#3 NYX Xtreme lip cream in the shade 01 Dolly Girl
I never really used NYX cosmetics until I noticed they started stocking them at my local Next store. I was instantly drawn to the pink shades ( of course!). I like the wand of this and find that the colour is really buildable if you want the colour to really pop! I find this lip cream really moisturising on the lips without that "sticky hair in lip gloss" vibe.

#4 Revlon Colourburst in the shade 040 Rendezvous
Next on the Revlon Colourburst I have many wintery shades but decided as we are in summer to pick up something a little more bright. I went for this orangey shade and I love it. Its something so different to what I normally would wear and due to the "pen" like shape application is easy. the only negative thing I would say is that the smell is horrible...well in my opinion but I normally coat it with a clear gloss to avoid the smell lingering.

#5 Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in the shade 04 Peach Club
Lastly another Bourjois Rouge Edition in the shade Peach Club. I'm not normally a nude wear so decided to step out my comfort zone and pick this up. The shade in my opinion is a orangey nude and looks great when I have fake tan on. again as mentioned I love the application and staying power of these products.

Evening Skincare Routine - The Body Shop

Hello again, todays post is about my current evening skincare routine. A few months ago I went in store to The Body Shop and basically begged for HELP! My skin was out of control I was getting those sore under the skin spots, redness and those dreaded under eye bags! The lady in the store was very helpful, she started by asking me what my skin type I was and if I'm honest I was not sure..... I explained my "symptoms" and she told me that I had combination skin.

Firstly we started with a cleanser to take my make up off, she suggested the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. Oil? I knew that I had an oil Tzone and didn't want to add more oil to my face *queue Psycho theme tune* She reassured me that this cleansing oil will lift away all my make up and restore the natural oils within my skin. I use this on dry skin and usually pump 2 -3 pumps in my fingers and gently start to massage it in. I make sure I use circular motions working my way up my face and leave my eyes till last to avoid the panda look. I let the oil skin in for a few minuets and then using a damp Body Shop Muslin Cloth I wash off the oil. Next I use the tinniest pit of oil to remove my eye make up and gentle wash it off with the muslin cloth. After this I usually jump in the shower and wash my face again with a clean Muslin cloth.

When I get out of the shower and I am rocking the "pineapple" hair look I use a large cotton pad to remove my excess eye make up. The lady in the Body Shop ( I feel so bad that I didn't catch her name) suggested another product from the Camomile range which is the Gentle Eye Make-up Remover. This product is amazing, as I am a frequent false eyelashes wearer I do sometimes have trouble removing the excess glue from my eyes but this eye make - up remover works wonders. It is so light and doesn't sting my eyes!! HOORAY! I put a few drops onto a large cotton pad and hold it over my eyes for a few seconds and then gently sweep it away. I turn the cotton pad over and do the same to the other eye.

Next up I was recommended the Vitamin E Hydrating Toner, the lady in the store said that this toner will not be too harsh on my skin and will add extra hydration. Again I just put a few drops onto a large cotton pad and sweep it across my face and neck......do not forget the neck. Whilst I'm leaving that to sink in I normally apply my body moisturiser and deodorant.

Once my toner has sunk in its time for the eye cream, again I was recommended this product as it helps to reduce the puffiness and darkness around the eyes. The Elderflower Unperfumed Eye Gel feels amazing when you put it on it is like your eye bags having a drink! I dip my ring finger into the gel and gentle dap the product from my outer eye working my way in. I find this method does not pull on the skin as much.

Now its time for the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-oil. I place a few drops on my fingers and then gently rub it into my face. This leaves my skin feeling silky smooth but a little really does go a long way!

Lastly I was recommended the Aloe Soothing Night Cream to help sooth the redness in my skin. when I apply this moisturiser my skin feels instantly soothed and cool. again with this product a little goes along way.

I have really noticed that when using these products all together my skin feels so much brighter, smoother and less oily!
What Body shop products are you liking at the moment?

What's in my bag? Summer Edition

Ah the ever so famous what's in my bag tag! I don't know about you guys but I absolutely love having a nosy in people handbags......not in a creepy criminal way but I just like to have a look! I am definitely one that carries around everything and the kitchen sink. I am a worrier and therefore I panic if my bag feels too light on my commute to work......"what if I have forgotten a snack? headphones? water bottle? purse? lipstick? AHHHH! okay you get the picture.

Now moving onto the bag. Since October last year yep...last year I have been luging around my baby which is the Zara City bag. This bag went everywhere with me, my boyfriend and I even have a private joke saying that my bag ( named Sherman ) is like our baby! But coming into the warmer months I have found it quite a trek lugging poor old Sherman around and I wanted something Summery, smaller and stylish. Now I do take handbag shopping very seriously.... and when I went into Accessorize I saw this baby.

It is called the Dani Double Zip Handheld Bag. Firstly I fell in love with the colour as my usual go to colour for a bag is black. The cream faux leather material goes so well with the gold hardware and to be gives it that Zara "I'm a sassy lady feel!" It also reminded me of my beloved Sherman with the two zip compartments and the open middle compartment. as you can see I can fit a lot of my "stuff" in there. So lets get cracking and take a peek in the first compartment.

1. Accessorize Paris note book - not available online  2. Dan Brown - Inferno Book 3. 2014 Next Diary - not available online  4. Accessorize pen - not available online
5. Accessorize Travel Card Holder - Similar here

Lets start with the Paris notebook - I mostly use this for blog ideas and scheduling next posts. I really love the quirky design and get a lot of compliments and questions asking where it is from, unfortunately it is a few years old from Accessorize. Next I would not leave the house without a good book to hand, my latest read is Inferno by Dan Brown. A primary school teacher once gave me two tips on choosing a book No1 if one the first page you find five words you can understand or read put the book back. No2 If you succeed at rule No1 and the writer has you wanting to turn to the next page...buy the book. Ah what girls handbag would not be complete without her diary? I seriously write everything in here and I am one of those annoying people who say "oh hold on let me check my diary!" Of course every girl needs a funky pen to write in her diary. Lastly in this compartment in my bright neon orange travel card holder. Now I could of chosen a more girly design but I thought if it is bright orange I can always spot it in my bag and avoid the mini heart attack of "Oh no where is my bus pass?"

Next I have my make-up bag from Primark it was £4 and I just love the bright pink ( again bright colours to avoid mini heart attacks that I have forgotten it) and stud detailing and its also easy to keep clean. If I am honest I only really touch up lipstick throughout the day but be well prepared as I am I take along all this items incase I have to jazz up my face. There will be another post this week on my everyday summer make up.

6. NatWest Card Reader 7. Coca Cola Phone Sock TKMax 8. Reading glasses Specsavers
9. Sunglasses Newlook 10. Sunglasses case Bourjois ( free gift)

Moving onto the next compartment I have my glasses, I only wear these to read and when I am on the computer as it avoids me getting headaches. I have lost my snazzy case for it so just use a Bourjois sunglasses case. My sunglasses are from NewLook and they were about £6 I love the colour and slowly but surely I am moving away from the comfort of black accessories.

These items are what I like to call my daily survival items. Of course I always have plenty of mints and gum to hand as I seem to enjoy smelly foods the best. I am know as the "walking pharmacy" as I always have unlimited supply of painkillers and of course for this time of the year hay fever tablets. The Body Shop Honey lip balm has earned its way into the survival kit as it keeps my lips smooth and moisturised all day....and it tastes amazing. Next up is my roll on deodorant and Katy Perry Killer Queen Perfume, I change my perfumes weekly but I really love this as a summer scent and it lasts all day. Clarins Lip Instant Light Perfector is something I always keep this baby in any handbag I have just in case I forget my make up bag and have something I can put on my lips in an emergency. The Collection Deluxe lipstick is something I forgot I purchased......
Must.have.water........I carry around  a water bottle with me for obvious reasons.

Of course using public transport all day I need some hand sanitizer and this one was a £1 and does the job. living in England you can never count on the weather so I make sure I can fit an umbrella in my bag for those summer showers. At the other end of the scale I have some pocket sized suncream which is factor 30 - you must always protect your skin. Any girl with long hair and bangs will understand that you always need a hair clip ( or two) to hand. I bet your all wondering what that strange looking pink thing is, Well it is a gift from my boyfriend Sam it is a travel torch...apparently??

As you can see I have a White IPhone 5, the pink case is from Asda. I also have the trusty iPhone headphone too just in case I get tried of reading on my commute to work. I also have a pink iPhone portable charger which was very cheap and holds two full charges from Amazon.

Lastly my purse which is also from Accessorize and I think matches perfectly with the bag. Now im naughty and always use my debit card as I hate having change jigglying around. As you can see this purse has plenty of space for all my cards and still manages to close WooHoo!

Hmmmm I wonder what I am going to call this handbag?
Thanks for reading!

Current Favourites!

It's current favourites time! The last few months I have been trying to use up products in my skin care stash. So first up is the Raspberry body butter from my favourite place The Body Shop. Firstly the scent is amazing and I find lingers on my skin all day. The texture is a lot thicker than the usual body butters and sinks into the skin well and leave me silky smooth. I will have to buy another tub as my boyfriend has become quite a fan too and scoops it out of the tub - I cant be the only one who gets OCD about this?

Next up is a gradual tanner. Now a few weeks ago I use to be the queen of spray tanning but it was becoming an expensive habit and of late I have really been liking the "less is more" look. Now I haven't been completely oh natural (I would look like Caspar otherwise) but I have been loving the shuttle hint of a sun kissed glow. The Garnier Body Moisturising Lotion Sun Kissed Look is fantastic at making my skin look healthy and making me look alive. it also has a nice scent (I'm a sucker for a luscious scent) My advice when using this product is to wash your hands after which is so obvious but I learnt this the hard way.

Now going with my less is more theme I am trying to embrace the freckles.... oh yeah! Years of plastering foundation on my face to cover them up has come to an end! I have been on the hunt for a light to medium coverage foundation and on my weekly trip to Boots I came across this bad boy! Rimmel Perfect Match foundation in the Shade 200 Soft Baige. I love the formula of this product as its light yet buildable also it doesn't have that horrible foundation smell. Another bonus is it has SPF 18.

Moving onto the last beauty favourite is Bourjois Rogue Edition Velvet in the shade Pink Pong. This is classic summer time pink which can be worn in the day as a bold lip or added to a glam evening look. The staying power of this product is amazing, in fact at first I did have trouble removing it with just a face wipe but I found more oil based cleansers get the job done. I have been wearing this product everyday since I brought it and I love the matte finish it gives and of course the staying power.

A favourite book I have been enjoying lately is The Fault in our starts by John Green. I am a fussy reader and normally cant stomach a lovey dovey book. im more of a thriller and horror gal. But the way John Green pulls you in with his style of writing from the first page is amazing I was hooked. I know it is more aimed at teens but I feel it is a book people of all ages can enjoy. In a nutshell the story is about a girl with termal cancer who meets a gorgeous young man at her support group and the tale goes on..... ( im rubbish at trying to explain and not give the plot away.)

What are your current favourites?
